LSVT BIG Parkinson's Therapy in Bedford, Fort Worth & Irving, TX
Outpatient Facility for Parkinson's BIG Program
Barkman and Smith Physical Therapy is proud to be one of the few outpatient facilities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that offers the Parkinson’s BIG program. The majority of our therapists are certified LSVT BIG therapists. The LSVT BIG program is offered at both our Irving and Bedford clinics.
Parkinson’s disease (PD) makes it difficult to move your body as you did before. So, we use the LSVT program to create a customized program to help you move more normally. You may have gestures or actions becoming smaller or slower, or you may have trouble moving around, getting dressed or coping with other activities of daily living.
At Barkman and Smith Physical Therapy in our Irving and Bedford clinics, we use the LSVT BIG to effectively train your body for improved movements. This helps you with every type of activity. Our goal is to help you find it easier to walk across the room and to unzip your jacket (and everything else!)
A Customized Approach for Each Parkinson’s Patient
LSVT BIG treatment is customized to your specific needs and goals, so it helps no matter the stage or severity of your condition. Yet, the treatment is usually most effective earlier to both improve function and hopefully slow symptom progression. Starting early leads to the best results, but it’s never too late to begin.
LSVT BIG has produced significant improvements for many people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) – even those facing considerable physical challenges.

Physical Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in Irving, Bedford & Fort Worth
Staying active is the goal for anyone with Parkinson’s disease (PD) at all stages. From the moment of diagnosis, the role of physical therapy is to keep you moving and enhance your ability to move. Research shows that physical therapy that includes resistance, gait, and balance training, plus regular exercise helps improve symptoms or slow the progression of your PD symptoms.
Physical therapists are helpful throughout the course of PD. Sometimes it is hard to notice the problems with movement early on, but a physical therapist can still help. Don’t miss the opportunity to make a difference as early as possible.
Physical Therapy and Exercise
Both physical therapy modalities and exercise support improved function and slow symptom progression in Parkinson’s patients. Supporting the health and wellness of your muscles improves your quality of life and keeps the activities of daily living within reach.
